Around 600 to 700 lymph nodes are scattered throughout the body, and the cervical lymph nodes are located in the neck. Sentinel biopsy

- A blue dye (tracer) is injected near the cancer site
- The dye travels to the sentinel node where a tumour drains
- That node is removed and examined
